After graduating in Commerce from the Sydneham College of Economics and Commerce, Hirji completed his degree in Law from The Government College of Mumbai. Nagarwalla Estates was established in 1995. Prior to the formation of the Company Mr. Hirji Nagarwalla was involved in the Business of Real Estate as a soul proprietor started by his father Mr. Noshir Nagarwalla in the 1970's (who retired as joint chief Controller of import and export, ministry of commerce) and was instrumental in negotiating some land mark properties in Mumbai. Today Nagarwalla Estates handles legal matters pertaining to property for various Reputed clients in house and Real estate activities extending from Mumbai to Pune. Nagarwalla Estates also helps in Holiday Homes in various prime locations.

Hirji was awarded the Shiv Chhatrapati Award for excellence in Sports from the Govt. of Maharashtra in 1987. In  1972 he had broken the Bombay School 50 meters record. He was the Inter-State and the National Champion in the 100 meters. He represented India in the Asian Games in Seoul in 1986 as well as other International Meets such as the SAF Games. Other than a good pair of legs Hirji also has a good ear for music. He has passed 7 examinations of the Royal School of Music, London in Pianoforte. His musical skills have enabled him to perform at several concerts at the Festival of India in the USSR in 1987 with the well-known singer Gary Lawyer.
